This website is not intended to give a travelogue of my journey, you won’t find detailed reference to distances, times, altitudes (much), or historical detail about places I pass through. It is intended to tell the story of what happens. It won’t help you plan a route or find useful information about doing something similar. That isn’t of interest to 99% of people reading. If you are the 1% then please send me an email, I’ll be happy to help however I can!
I spent just over 3 months in the summer of 2014 cycling from my home in Watford, England to Cabo Touriñán in Spain.
I didn’t go directly to Spain and I didn’t know where I was going in Spain until I got there. I left the UK from Harwich via Ferry to the Hook of Holland and followed the course of the River Rhine. I stayed with the river all the way through Germany until I reached Basel in Switzerland. I then headed in a south westerly direction across France to the border with Spain. After crossing the Pyrenees I continued west across northern Spain all the way to the Atlantic Coast.
This map gives a rough outline of my route.
This was my trial run before I attempted to cycle the length of the Americas.
